ACT is looking for individuals who possess leadership qualities and who are passionate about Tax Technology. Once you become a member of ACT, you can join one of our teams and put your talents to work.  Descriptions of each committee are listed below. Feel free to contact any committee chair, Board member, or ACT staff with any questions you have about the committees. Publications: Identifies topics of current interest related to computer automation of the tax compliance function. Solicit authors for articles and follow up as necessary to insure articles are submitted on a timely basis for publication. Also, articles can be composed by committee members.Edit articles and verify they meet the ACT educational guidelines. Chair: Lisa Turman

Program: Assists in the provision of ACT Conference program agenda.This includes topic and speaker selection, completing speaker profile forms, paragraph description of session topics, obtaining program handout, and writing speaker introductions. In addition, program committee members assist in various conference site duties such as working the registration desk, speaker support, speaker gift distribution and conference attendee support. Chair: Donald Kehl


Website: Responsible for the content, functionality, and operation of www.taxact.org while working through the ACT staff. The committee has a content related function that strives to keep our website up-to-date and relevant, and a technical side that works with the developers and service providers to add functionality and continue the reliable operation of the site.

Survey: Evaluates Survey report and recommend improvements. Work with Survey Chairman to analyze relevance of questions and overall format of report. Participate in group discussions on prior year data and suggestions for improvements from members. Test on-line version by inputting data and reviewing Survey for typographical changes. Provide feedback to Chairman on web-based data collection. Suggest ideas for promoting use of ACT Survey database.  Chairs:  Susan Bauer and Leslie Beach
 
Membership: Coordinates activities designed to increase membership.These activities fall into two broad categories: adding new members and retaining
existing members. New member projects include such activities as annual membership drive, supporting the enhancement of the ACT web site to create interest in membership and support sending the Executive Director and others, as appropriate to host "booths” at other conferences. Member Retention projects include input into the membership surveys and follow-up calls as appropriate. Chairs: Eric Lin


 

  Board Members  


As a nonprofit educational organization, ACT runs on volunteer energy. Tax and systems automation professionals donate their time to serve on the ACT Board, as an officer, a committee chair or committee member. The ACT Board is elected at the annual membership meeting held each June at the Annual ACT Conference. Regular ACT members who are interested in serving on the Board should contact any of our staff or board members listed on the "Contact Us" page.
